North Central Call for Abstracts
Deadline for submissions has been extended to May 24, 2024
The National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) extends an open invitation to submit abstracts for poster presentations for the 2024 North Central Regional Cooperative Soil Survey Conference. The conference will be held at University of Wisconsin in Platteville, Wisconsin, on June 24-27. The poster session will be held on Monday, June 24. Student submissions are encouraged.
Poster Presentation Topics
All posters will be considered; however, it is suggested they are related to the conference theme: Digging into the Driftless – A Dynamic Vision for Resilient Soil Climate and Ecosystems.
Topics may include:
- The Driftless Area of Wisconsin
- Soil Health
- Dynamic Soil Properties
- Soil Climate
- Climate Smart Management Practices and Solutions
- Dynamic Ecosystems
- Urban Soils
- New Technologies to Evaluate and Disseminate Soils Data
- Digital Soil Mapping
- pXRF, MIR
- Dynamic Soil Survey
Poster Abstract Submission
Provide the following in a Word or PDF document:
- Poster title
- Presenter’s name, affiliation, address, phone number, and email, as it should appear in the official program
- Co-authors’ names and affiliation as it should appear in the official program
- Abstract – Clearly describe the work in 100 to 200 words

Submission Deadlines
The deadline to submit poster abstracts is May 6.
All Soil and Plant Science Division staff must submit abstracts for internal review by April 5.
Abstract Selection
The North Central NCSS Steering Committee will review the abstracts, make the final decisions, and notify each presenter by May 31. All selected posters must be received by 4:00 p.m. on June 24. If the event is switched to a virtual platform due to health and safety concerns, conference organizers will contact the selected poster authors for digital files. All accepted presenters are required to register and are responsible for the registration fees.
