Western Call for Abstracts

Deadline for Submissions: June 3, 2024

The National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) extends an open invitation to submit abstracts for oral research presentations or poster presentations for the 2024 Western Regional Cooperative Soil Survey Conference. Montana State University is hosting the conference in Missoula, Montana, from July 22-25. The conference theme is “Soilscapes to Landscapes: Focused Conservation for Reinvigorating Healthy Communities.”

Presenters can submit abstracts for one of the following: 

  • Poster presentation
  • Oral research presentation (15 minutes including questions)

Poster presentations will take place during the evening social on Tuesday, July 23. Oral presentations will take place on the morning of Thursday, July 25.

Poster Presentation Topics

We request poster presentations be related to the following topics:

  • Application of Soil Survey Data for Making Management Decisions
  • Climate-Smart (Resilient) Agriculture 
  • Soil Health
  • Regenerative Agriculture
  • Epic Conservation Outcomes or Innovations

Abstract Submission

Upload a Word or Adobe Acrobat document to Box with the following:

  1. Presentation title
  2. Presenter’s name, affiliation, address, phone number, and email
  3. Presenter and co-authors’ names and their affiliations as it should appear in the official program
  4. Abstract – Clearly describe the work in a maximum of 250 words
  5. Indicate preference for presentation: oral or poster

Submission Deadlines

The deadline to submit abstracts is June 3.

All Soil and Plant Science Division staff must submit abstracts for internal review by May 3.

Abstract Selection

The Western NCSS Steering Committee will review the abstracts, make the final decisions, and notify each presenter by June 21. All accepted presenters are required to register and pay for the conference.
